June is National Hurricane Preparedness month.  Last year we watched as hurricanes, tornadoes, and major snow storms arrived early in the season, some with no warning at all. You can prepare for potential disasters before they strike this year by following the guidelines suggested by FEMA (visit www.ready.gov for detailed information and suggestions).

In Case of Emergency: Do you have the basics?

  • Create a basic disaster supply kit and update it on a regular basis.
  • Store one in your home, car, and at work.
  • Develop a plan of action and contacts. Review and rehearse this with all family and friends that need to know.
  • You may want to include a disposable camera in your disaster kit to document any loss for insurance purposes.
  • When using electronics (camera, radio, cell phone, etc.) make sure the charge is full whenever you update your kit.
  • Consider purchasing a generator to assist in the event you lose power.

Finally, call Protector Group at 888-850-9400 and make sure you have the proper coverage in place on your insurance policies.
