Many reports on the news this week have been about flood warnings with examples proving you do not have to be in a flood zone to suffer from the devastation of a flood.  Even if you’ve never experienced a flood, there may be the possibility of risk.

Rain, melting ice and snow, hurricanes, inadequate drainage systems, broken water mains, and dam breaches are among the most common natural disasters that cause flooding. Homeowner, Condo, and Tenant policies do not provide coverage damage caused by floods. This coverage must be purchased from The National Flood Insurance Program (FEMA). You can insure your home up to $250,000, and your personal property up to $100,000.

There is usually a 30 day waiting period after applying for flood insurance before the coverage goes into effect. As your independent insurance agent, we have access to flood insurance through private insurance companies.
